BUILDING SHADOWS : A TYPOGRAPHIC EXPERIMENT

My second year Final Major Project involved the search for a new form of visual language and means of communication.

This project focussed on the marriage between sculpture and typography and resulted in an installation.

The project was based around the theory of the Motion Parallax, originally inspired by the Channel Four idents.

The installation took the form of a 2x2m white cube with a rotating light source hanging from the centre surrounded by suspended blocks.

The installation istself is completely abstract and illegible until the light source is switched on revealing

the words; 'What you see is what you see' written in the shadows that form.

The experiment was documented photographically and filmed using a fish eye lense by Henry Edwards-Wood.
